Transfer case issues

Well we got the nor-easter for the year on Saturday night. I was iching to see how my old GMC would fair in the snow. When I locked the hubs and put it in 4W-Hi it kept jumping out to neutral each time I shifted the transmission. I had to reach down and hold it in 4W-Hi as I drove. I have a NP 4-speed with a granny low and a NP205 transfer case. I haven't checked the fluid level since I got the truck in August. I didn't have any problems when tried out the 4WD on the farm in September. It's too cold and wet to check it right now, but could this be an indication of low fluid level in the T-case? Any and all comments welcome. All in all she did very nice in the snow.
