71 C-10 seat swap

I am new here (just posted my intro),and I have a simple question. I am installing a early 90's bench seat in my 1971 cab, with the brackets that came with the seat.the seat seems a little high to me, I know it is no big deal to cut the brackets but I just wondered if it was necessary,or if any of you had cut them down a little.I have seen lots of trucks with these seats, but never noticed if the brackets were cut or not. thanks for your input.
