Paint Job Advice

Hey all - I have an 84 shortbed that I've had for about 10 years. It is a metallic brown over tan 2-tone. I really like the look of some of the trucks I see here that are a solid color without the stuck-on trim.

My question is, if I go with a solid color, would it be easier/cheaper to not do a complete color change? The metallic brown is fairly attractive when it's all waxed up, but after about a month, it gets very hazy and filmy, which I suspect is just because of the age of the truck. The reason I'm leaning toward going with this color is because the dash and inside of the doors is also this color, and I'm trying to avoid having to strip the truck down to get it painted.

Thanks.
