Carrier bearing?

Last night I took down my rear dirve shaft, to install a new carrier bearing, and some u-joints. I got the u-joints out thanks to my cut-off wheel, but couldn't get the bearing to budge more than 1/32 of an inch or so. I got the dust cover off, but not the bearing.

Do I need to take it to NAPA?

Is there another way other than a BFH because I've tried that. Service manual says to use a slide hammer which I don't have. The spline is 6 inches long, I don't have a puller with arms that long.

thanks ahead of time for the ideas.
