engine smoking - car hauler?

I wanted to check, I bought this truck last weekend and it has a motor that the guy says only has about 2000 miles since rebuild. It is pretty strong. When I tried it I didn't see smoke. I hauled it home on a uhaul dolley thing. Would the truck being up like that do anything? I couldn't see why. The guy did say it has been sitting for about 2 years, but supposedly he would start it every month or so. It is blue smoke, I have never thought that to be good. Any ideas would help.
