Oil leaking on startup?? huh? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Well we've been playing vehicle musical chairs the past few days. Well my truck was parked under the carport. I pulled it forward to wash it today and there was a fresh (as in, just hit the pavement) little pool of oil. I washed my truck and let it dry in the sun, then I had to move it back under the carport so my mom could pull in. Sure enough, there was another, smaller, puddle of oil, so fresh the glob of oil was still sitting above the pavement.

So why would oil leak on startup? Or is it just leaking somewhere from circulating then stopping?

I'm not about to tear into any major tasks or ordeals to fix a problem on a 26 year old motor but I am curious as to why it would seemingly do this. If it has some simple fix that would be cool, though.

As always y'alls thoughts are appreciated in advance b/c I'm sure I'll learn something like I always do.
