Chisholm lowering kit
Is anyone running a Chisholm lowering kit on the front of their truck? These were sold by LMC for several years and consist of a new lower A arm which drops the spring 2 1/4 in, using a drop box to house the standard height front srpings. These are no longer available thru LMC. I searched the web for Chisholm and thought I had found them but the # is bogus.
The other parts suppliers say they don't sell them because they are prone to break. These guys have a vested interest in selling something else, so I am seeking help from people who have actual experience with this kit. Also would like to contact Chisholm if anyone can tell me how. My son & I are building a 71 shortbox and want to lower it. If he did not already have the Chisholm kit we would go with the early classic 2 1/2 in dropped spindles in the front and a 5 in short coil in the rear (really want it to sit level). Reality is we have the Chisholm kit and spending the $ to buy another means we scrimp on something else, but if they are not safe we will chalk it up to experience and move on. From everything I can measure the dropped box which holds the bottom of the spring will not be more than 1/2 in lower than the original A arm but are there clearance problems with these? What about alignment? Please give me some feedback. thanks bob Last edited by bob arnold; 07-20-2006 at 09:01 AM. |
