thm350 ?

i just pulled the pan on mt torbo350 to change the filter and gasket. it seemd to shift real hard and work good, i was told when i got the truck it was recently rebuilt but there was more sludge and metal filings in there that i'm comfortable with, probably a teaspoon full of filings i picked up with a maginet. is this normal or should i be concerned. i took the pans off 3 that i have here and this was by far the worst but the only one i know worked good. i know very little about auto trannies but would like to learn to build them. do you think i should put this back in as is or build a new one now?
