Bed liner material in cab

Would it be a good or bad idea to roll on some of that bed liner material on the floor of my truck? I want to insulate it a little and cover it but can't afford insulation and carpet now. My dad said moisture might get in it and rust it but how would that happen inside and not the bed. What do you guys think? I like the idea of not having to worry about staining the carpet or anything like that.
