dipstick length

i bought a dipstick from LMC and it was too long. it would make a ticking noise with the engine running thanks to hitting the crankshaft. i removed a 1/2 inch off the end of it, and then it stopped making the noise. i want to make sure i'm putting the right amount of oil in there so if some others can share some measurements

its a 350

the dipstick was 19 1/2 inches before cutting, now it's 18 7/8 inches from red line to red line

the fill tube was 6 1/2 inches
