gas tank cleaning

I've run a search and read several threads where bolts, chain, etc were put into a tank and used to clean out the rust. I did the same thing ..and ran it through a pressure washer for several minutes. Question is, will this keep it clean for a few years, or do I need to have it sealed up? Local shops want $150 to clean and seal the tank. For that price, I could buy a new tank.

Will the cleaning that I've done last for a few years? How long does it take for the tank to get rusty and nasty again on the inside?
