How to go about lowering?

So i want to lower my ride(1968 chevy 1/2 ton longbed stepside)..its understandable. But i am not to sure about how to approach this.

I want to get a brake conversion kit for the fronts..i have seen some that include a 2 1/2" drop...should i do this BEFORE or AFTER i get lowered springs?

Also, are those brake conversion kits hard? like the one seen here

Also, i want a total of 3"(or 3 1/2") in the front and 5" in the back. So AFTER the brake conversion kit which set of coils should i go for? HERE

or am i just going about this all wrong? Bascially i hate my drum brakes...and i want to lower my truck to a mean looking level(without scraping)
