Float/metering plate?

My truck only runs for about a minute or so before killing itself. Seems like a fuel problem, but you can move the pedal and hear the fuel squirting in the barrells. But when it kills itself, it makes a hissing sound and diesels (slightly backward once stopped). I'm thinking the float and/or metering plates are misadjusted somehow or something, because i'm thinking it's running VERY rich.

textual float adjustment aid?

ran fine on the way home yesterday.
