Blew out my rear end on the way home tonight, I think.

I was on the Freeway and all of a sudden bang! And then klunk klunk all the way home. It would change gears so I don't think it's the tranny, I put it in all gears and it drove, when I put it in L1 it was really bad. I was able to go slow and it didn't make much noise and when I sped up it got a little louder. I would pull over and the noise would stop but then start up again. I don't think it's the U Joints. What do you guys think?
