Is there a difference in stopping between...

The 1" rotors or the heavy duty 1.25 rotors. Here is the situation... I’m upgrading to disc brakes on my 65 c-10 (we can upgrade to 73-87 brakes without modification) and about to start buying some parts and since I’m starting from scratch I thought I would ask. I seem to remember a friend of mine that had the h/d brakes that switched to the non h/d for a set of free lowering spindles and told me he noticed a big difference in stopping power. I tried a search but couldn't find the specifics on this.
Any help would be great.
Graham
