Re: Lifts? drive on type or frame lift type?

The shop I work at has a drive on 4 post,... it's portable and wasn't too pricey... I have a friend, ok, aquaintence... that has a 2-post... he had a pick-up (toyota) fall off his lift... he may have lifted incorrectly but,...? I did use his 2 post to pull my cab off the frame... could not have done that with a ramp style... nor can you take off the wheels as easily,... but after having access to both, and using both... I'm going with a 4 post ramp style when I build my garage... a 2 post works great for tire changes and cab lifting... but once those are done,... oil changes, trans service, starter changes, u-joints, eyc... are more of what I think I'll be doing in my garage... ever since that guy lost a truck off his (even if it was his own fault) I'm scared of loading incorrectly myself...
also,... when the weather is way beautiful out,... we move our portable 4 post ramp style outside, frees up room in the shop, and when it's not in use, we push it up against the back corner of the shop... put it all the way up (empty) and it's 90% out of the way.
Just my opinion...
we have a Danmar 9,000 LB Capacity 4 Post Medium Duty Lift $2550.00 plus caster kit.
