'79 engine mounts

I finally installed my '79 frontend. I want to use the '79 engine stands. Do I just line up the stands with the crossemember & redrill the frame to match?? I would have to use a washer underneath each bolt beween the stand & frame to act as a spacer. Or do I line up the holes in the frame & redrill the crossmember?? I read the FAQ on this, but I do not think that it applies to using the late '70s crossmember....
