Carb. Problem

I have an Edelbrock 600 cfm electric choke carb. that i bought brand new a few years ago and for the last 6-8 months it has been giving me problems. Every few months it will start leaking gas out of the left side at the bottom underneath the throttle linkage. I have already replaced the base gasket about 3 or 4 times. Also, everytime it leaks it fouls out the sparkplugs, so I have had to replace the sparkplugs about 3 or 4 times. The carb. is not tightened down too much and it is not too loose either. It doesn't appear that the carb. or intake is warped either. I am seriously tired of having to replace the spark plugs because it adds up over time. The motor is a Chevy 350 smallblock and the intake is an Edelbrock as well. Does anyone have a clue as to why the carb. keeps leaking gas from the base? Thanks in advance.
