Oh the smell of Oil, Gas, Anti-freeze and "Fast Orange"

As some of you may know I'm gearing up to pull my 327 later this month to go through it. I spent most of the afternoon removing my radiator and stuff off the front and top of my engine. It's such a joy working on a fairly clean stock engine. I'll have a ton of questions later once I get it out and check it over.

A few Lessons learned:

1. Remove the gas cap when undoing that coupling at the gas tank.

I undid that coupling so the gas wouldn't siphon down to the gas pump. For some reason the tank had pressure on it and it spewed gas like crazy behind my seat when I first undid it. Luckily I was able to get it re-connected and I figured out that there was pressure on the tank. That had to be the highest point in the line so where else could all the gas be coming from? Luckily I had a cup and a couple of good clean rags to do a quick clean-up. Later gas tanks in our series are vented right?

2. Don't listen to a radio station that features "The Bob and Tom Show" highlights on it when you have an impressionable 8 year old around!

3. "Fast Orange" hand cleaner works really well but it really drys you skin out!

4. Ask you wife before you use any househould containers for catching automotive fluids!

Other than that the day went smoothly.
