Q and advise on cams

I want to get more power out of my truck.figure that .I have a rebuilt 350 and I already have a edelbrock carb and intake the max rpm on it is 5,000.What Would be the afect of a cam capible of 5,500 rpm or more?Some one told me i would have to change intakes?

This is a street driven truck with a stock sbc so I do not want to agressive of cam.Can any one recomend one?
