Welding Patch Panels

I Know When You Weld In Patch Panels That You Spot Weld It Slowly And Work You Way Around. I Am Just Doing A Small Piece On The Front Side Area Of The Cab.(behind The Back Of The Fender) I Cut A Piece Of Metal And Spot Welded It, But When I Ground It Down You Could See Some Really Small Holes Or Kinda Like A Small Crack Where The Patch Is. I Know The Crack Is Not Normal, But Should You Be Able To Make It Look Just Like One Piece Of Metal Or Should You Use Like A Sealer Or Filler To Make It Solid?
