Turn signal broke

whats the name of the little plastic piece inside the steering column that the turn signal lever screws into, my turn signals still work, but don't turn them selves off anymore, and I'm tired of drive 10 miles before I realize they're still on.
edit: oh by the way, I have a tilt column if that matters.
