NP205 Shift Rail Question ????

So I was under my K-10 this weekend replacing the Tranny Mounts since they were pretty sad looking.

I saw this on the end of one of the shift rails??? Something welded there?? any Ideas on why? obviously not factory? How hard is it to get a shift rail and are they easy to install - seems to shift ok so I'll probably leave it alone for now anyway.

Also this is a really dumb question but what is the differance between a "divorced" and "married" T.Case??? Divorced = it needs the adaptor to bolt upto the tranny?

Also how do I check the Fluid level - there are 2 pipe plugs on the back of the case - do I just fill it to the top plug?? - like you would on a rear end?? What type of gear oil do you normally put in these.

- Yeh I know that there is no vacuum hose on the tranny modulator - belive it or not the PO had a tranny job done and they didn't put one on it - I drove it about 100miles and it shifted!! Wierd
