Brake line question...

Hello all
I have a 1967 gmc longbed. In an effort to get better brakes I got new shoes. When I went to install them I found I needed wheel cylinders. these led to new rubber hoses. and this has now led me to new hard lines. When I am done this truck will have all new brake stuff.

My question is this. I have small hard lines running the front brakes but a larger diameter line going to the rear axle. Is this normal?

Thanks
Joe
