Brake Light Wiring Q

My brake lights are out. My blinkers still work. I have looked under the dash and it's a nightmare. Splices from h*ll. It has trailer brake and trailer plugin, all spliced right under the steering column. I'll eventually clean all this crap out, but I'm sending my truck back with my son to college, and I'm looking for a quick fix.
Coming off the pedal switch, I want to splice another line and then tie in further back on the 4wire harness. Do I need to tap into both blinker wires? What colors are they?
I know it's "mickey mouse", but I'm working night shift tonight and he'll be taking the truck tomorrow. Doesn't help that I'll have to do this in the parking lot with a flashlight. It's a little warmer tonight. I don't think it below 10 F.
Thanks, Al
