My 71 is under attack from the Sound Police! HELP!!!
OK Here's my situation, Bear with me! My 71 has 2 40 series Flowmasters that dump just before the rear axle. They have been no problem for a couple of years now in the neighborhood. The Problem:
1- Work has been slow so instead of cranking my truck once or twice a week to go out of town for business at 2 or 3 in the morning, I have been taking shorter runs and I crank it almost every morning. (I'm a truck driver) 2- Since it's cold and my baby is cold-natured, I have to run it @ about 1000 RPM's for 5 to 10 mins vs. 2 to 3 at idle when its warm outside. 3- The complaint is coming from a DPS Trooper in the neighborhood (UH OH) Now that I've said more than I needed too, What would be a good choice to "tone it down" and I mean way down? I plan on putting these 'Flows on my 59 Apache so its not a total loss. How much quieter are the "Hushpower" mufflers? Can I get away with 1000 RPM for 10 mins with those? The complaint is coming from a real stand-up neighbor and They were very polite about this issue. Let me hear what you guys think! Thx, J
