transmissions?

I've posted before that I have a turbo 350 tranny in the truck and just don't like not having that overdrive. Here's the question:

can the turbo 350 and go with something else or look into the gear vendors unit and keep the turbo 350?

Like most of us, I'm trying to get the best of both worlds. Good gas mileage and that big pull from a stop. The one thing I do know is I will be moving away from the 411 rear gear and down to 308 or 342.
