My truck already had the in-cab tank removed and the hole filled when I got it. My new tank install is to replace the carnage that I inherited (an oversized tank in a big wooden box the bed). If I were doing this from scratch, I would probably go ahead and shave the filler anyway, because I'm shaving the door handles etc. If the truck had a lot of chrome on it and I wanted to leave the neck, I probably would have just stayed with the original setup unless I needed the room for bucket seats or speakers or whatever. I don't really think that it's dangerous, and while the extra room behind the seat is nice, it it would have sure saved a lot of work! Good luck with whatever you decide, and thanks again for resizing the pictures.
