Prepping the truck for LWB to SWB transformation...any tips

I have seen the classic truck article series on it and have decided to shorten the bed and frame....my truck is a 62 so it is a slightly more involved process but the final product will be worth it in my mind...plus SWB trucks look sweet.....has anybody actually done this ......Due to the truck being a 62 X frame type I will be cutting out the rear part of the X and adding in some supports for my 4 link and general strengthing.....

P.S. thanks for all the reply's on the drip rail question I posed...they have helped me make my decision not to attempt it right now....but who knows after I shorten it I will probably say what the hell and take the time to do it anyway
