Mrrilla Registered User Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Tucson,AZ Posts: 66	1970 rear axle width I am going to do a 5 lug conversion on my truck but I do not know if its an early "narrow" rear end or a late "wider" rear end. It is a 6 lug now but I know chevy used both widths in this year. I measure about 57.625 backing plate to backing plate and 65" drum to drum. It is marked as a TDA axle....3.73:1. Can someone measure thier 71-72 to see if this is the wider rear end?
