Starter compatibility

We all know how parts are interchangable with our chevys, I wouldn't mind a better starter for the 350 truck motor that i swapped in my car. It had a bad alternator, and so if the battery died I can switch the Batteries from the car to my blazer, and the "dead" battery starts the blazer! A little weak, but the starter seems to have more power for less juice. Over the years, I'm sure GM had several different starters and Is there a website that shows the specifications for all of them?
