Well I decided to take a look at my tranny last nite. I'm really wanting to stay with the original 3 speed on the tree. However, when i popped the side plate off I found a lot of shavings and broken teeth.

The little magnet in the bottom of the pan was full of metal. Someone was hard on that transmission. I called a local transmission shop and the guy told me it could cost upwards of $500 to rebuild. I was really hoping not to spend that much on that transmission. So now I don't know what I want to do. I don't know if I want to have it rebuilt or go with a different trans. I KNOW that I DO NOT want an automatic. Have any of you ever attempted to rebuild one yourself? If so, how difficult was it? Thanks
