Transmission Wiring

I just bought a '72 C10 with a 350/350. There is a wiring harness that goes from the passenger side of the transmission up to a small vacuum pot that is connected to vacuum lines on the carbureator. Can anyone tell me what this is for? I am installing a 350 crate motor and switching to an HEI distributor, Performer intake, and Demon carbureator. Do I need to hook this wiring harness back up or can I eliminate it?

Thanks!
