Nostalgic Air Products underdash A/C for my 67

Just received my complete A/C underdash unit for my 67 (original heat only). Has anyone ever bought one of these? It looks well made and all the hardware is included. Except compressor belt, R134A and 2 groove pulleys.

Just wondering if there was any "gotchas' to look out for. The guy at Nostalgic Air told me to get my hose connectors crimped at NAPA or an A/C place. Has anyone ever done this themselves or had it done before?

I'm thinking about 'bypassing' my heater core and looping the heater hose straight from the water pump back to manifold as heat seeps in on the floor and my A/C blowers will be breathing it right in. Any problems doin' that? Don't need a heater too much here in Houston.

Thanks

JD
