Installing my '85 MC & booster in my '70

More pics added.

This is how I fit the '85 booster in without modifying the brackets. It may not be real pretty, but it would still be acceptable for a core return.

I used some aluminum c-channel I had from some chargers. The top one is what it looks like before cutting. The other pieces are shims for the top mounting holes. They can be seen in the later pictures.

The 2nd and 3rd pics are a test fit, with the channels reversed left and right side to show how they fit and the minor bolt issue I ran into. The lower bolts could be cut down, since they no longer have to reach through the MC. I chose to leave them as is for now, later I will change for a tighter fit.

The last 2 pics are a final mockup with the MC attached. The channel pieces have been installed on their correct sides. One other change I might do later with the other full channel is to cut longer pieces and not mount the middle hole in the booster bracket and instead use the top and bottom ones. Then cutting the bottom up towards the middle mounting bolt. Don't know if it would affect the strength of the mounts, but would also eliminate the bolt interferance without cutting the original bolt down.

The booster as it is now is about 3/4 inch longer than the original booster set up, but could be closer with shallower channels. Maybe 1/2 inch without interfering with the column shift.

This life was a test. It was only a test. If this had been an actual life, you would have received instructions on where to go and what to do.
