2004R info

I'm looking to get an OD auto tranny put in my 68 C10 but I don't know much about them. I've seen a thread or 2 that talk about the 2004R being pretty much the same size as the T350's and what you need to do to install it. What vehicles did the 2004R originally come in so I know what to look for at a yard? My main question though is what is the difference between the 2004R & the 700R4 and which one is really the preferred tranny?
