Pads too tight to slip on rotor question

I have new stock 11 inch rotors new stock 82 calipers and some new orgainc pads The calipers sat for a few years but look good could it be that the piston is sticking out a little? tryed to move it but it looks like its all the way in ..even tryed it with the old thin pads and it wont fit.. pretty lame I know ..but just thought some one could see thru my stupidity and be so kind as to give me any Idia what the F is going on !
