subtle change
I had determined the cam and timing chain were bad in the 305 so I changed the cam, lifters, timing chain, intake and valve covers on my 86 last weekend and evenings this week. I finally got the valves adjusted and the engine running decent last night. I did a little cleaning and painting to make the underside of the hood somewhat presentable. I still have some adjusting and fine tuning yet to go, but I at least got some pics. I was going for a stock/semi custom look for the engine. The paint scheme matches the exterior fairly well.
Here's my setup now: 305 with 350 crate cam(used), new tim. chain, new lifters new Edelbrock Performer EPS intake Edelbrock 1406 600 Performer carb (previously installed) 14x3 open element air filter (fits without spacers alot better than stock setup) new water pump new fuel pump aluminin pulleys all new radiator and heater hoses 1st pic is when I first got the truck. 2nd pic is just before I started. 3rd and 4th pics are finished product.
