steering column mount

quick question i am droping in a standard chevy stering colom in my 53 what size of top mount do i need? locar list several drop distances 2" 3" 4"... what are you guys using???? oh and what should i use on the floor. i've seen a lot of guys use something like a pipe to hold the bottom in... so many questions... throttle peddle, what should i put on the floor for my 350? i would love to use the stock throttle mount and peddle but the holly probably needs some sorta a cable...
