I was seeing the $300 range for a 'dual pack' comp system using two 380c's (they come in chrome or pewter). I got my Thomas 327's for <$300 too.

My original Thomas used a 10g wire w/a 30amp inline fuse for power. I think the main wire coming out of the motor is only 12g. I'm not 100% sure on that size.... I could check if someone wanted?
