I saw an awsome collection of stuff today
Well, pictures of it, anyway.
I had to run down to the big city this morning on an errand, had to be at a place right when it opened to get a part, not car related. I drove my Panel down and after our business, the guy says "Nice truck." I get that from time to time. "Thanks", I say "It's my hobby, my money pit". He says "Yeah-I never saw one of those (Panels) before, but I just bought 2 of them" What? Around here? He had my attention at that point. "Naw, not around here-out of State. I bought a package of 67-72 trucks and parts. gonna sell 'em on Ebay." We talked trucks for a few minutes and then he asked if I'd like to see some pics of what he got. He popped a cd into his computer and for the next hour it brought up image after image of the most amazing stuff. He starts listing them off-14 short fleets, 12 longs, a couple Longhorns, several 'Burbs, a Blazer or 2. Rust-free cabs 'till I had a tear in my eye. A row of truck beds that Evil Kenevil couldn't have jumped over, each one with a topper and full of parts. Then he gets into the good stuff. NOS stuff like you can't imagine. I saw a box that was labeled NOS speakers, another that was NOS T-3 headlights. Piles and piles of NOS trim and odds and ends. Tilt colums. Tack dashes. Speedminder dashes. All perfect, if not NOS. A rainbow of dash pads and visors. And door trims. Said there was a whole case of rolls of OEM woodgrain stuff. Marker lenses. Cases of them. My jaw was on the floor. He hopes he can get all of the NOS stuff home in one semi van load. The rest can come on several flatbeds. I would guess 5 or 6 loads. I have the guy's info and when it starts coming on the market I'll get some pics. He's no rube-he knows what he's got and what it's worth (at least what it goes for on Ebay) but he seemed pretty realistic about it, too. This was all first thing this morning and I'm still fairly amazed.
