Torsion to spring swap?

Hello all.
Thought I'd try and pick your brains before scrapin' my knuckles.
I've got a '62 Chevy 1/2t 2wd stepside shortbed with the torsion bar front end. I've seen where a lot of those with either the older Advanced design or Task force trucks have bolted in complete front crossmembers from a mid '70's to '80's truck. I've also seen where many of you have swapped A-arms and spindles from newer trucks.
Obviously I'd like to get the benefit of power disc brakes and coil springs, (although the bars do ride OK).
On the '62, do I have the option of swapping arms, spindles, rod ends, etc. from a '73-'87?
I know I can get lowered spindles and disc kits from vendors, but was kinda hoping for a junkyard solution as this ones my beater.
Thanks!
