250 I6 with a 700R4

Does anyone have a 250 I6 with a 700R4 tranny in there trucks? I am pulling the my 250/TH350 to swap it over to another chassis, and I know know would be the time to do the 4-spd upgrade.
If anyone does have the setup, how do you like it? Do you have a problem with the step between 1st and 2nd gear like I have heard mentioned?
I know that I would have to get a TV cable, and the correct wiring to make it work, but since this is my daily driver I don't want to regret not doing the swap when everthing is apart now.
