Best of 2 trucks on 1 - easiest way?
I have a '68 GMC short bed stepside with the 305ci V6 and 3 on the tree. It has the leaf rear suspension with a 10 bolt open rear end. I also have a '72 C10 short bed stepside that started life with a 6cyl/3sp, but now has a '88 305 V8 with a turbo350 in it. This truck also has the coil rear suspension with a 12 bolt posi.
I want to put the '68 body work (cab, front clip, and bed) together with the V8, turbo350, front disc brakes, 12 bolt posi and rear coil suspension from the '72 truck...then part out the majority of whats left. So here's the question (and consider the '68 frame is better then the '72's)...would it be easier to pull the V8, turbo350, front disc setup, rear coil suspension, and steering column off the '72 chassis to install it all on the '68 truck (once I'd pulled the engine, tranny, front drum brake setup, column, rear end and rear leaf setup) ....or... just pull the body off the '72 chassis and pull the '68's body off its chassis... then install the '68 body work on the '72 chassis? And deal with the frame swap at a later date when I build up the carb'd 427ci (or 454) LSX (the GMPP iron block), a 5 (or 6) speed tranny, and a performance suspension and brake setup thats all eventually going in?
