Dyeing whitewalls red?

I gave up on spending the 1200-1300 for the old style redlines.

Back to my old faithful Les, bought 70,000 mile tires with a whitewall and had that mounted out so they show.

From making sheaths for my knives I am familiar with leather dye.

I can't see a problem with using red dye to color the whitewalls. May have to redo it every year or so.

Has anyone else done this? I thought I saw a thread about this earlier but can't find it now.

I did find the posts about creating whilewalls by sanding and grinding- not what I am after.

These are brand-new tires Schwab to home- and they have the raised whitewall all clean and unfooledaroundwith.

What have YOU tried, and how happy are you with it?

Some pics would be good too

Thanks,
_______
