Introduction from central Washington state.
As I always figure it isn't pc to post on a forum unless one has introduced him/herself here goes.
I am a longtime car and truck nut who lives in the Yakima Valley of Washington state. My background is that of being a 60 year old/young person who went through automotive mechanics trade school way back when, Then worked as a mechanic in GM dealerships, tire stores and independent shops for about 10 or so years. I taught vocational auto mechanics at the high school level for 13 years in the same high school that I had graduated from years before. I also have experience behind the parts counter at auto parts stores (where they actually had paper parts books on the counter). My trucks are a 48 Chev half ton that is chopped 4 inches, has suicide doors (done in 1981) and 120 louvers in the hood. It is being prepped for a complete from the bare frame redo. Right now it qualifies as one of the original "rat" pickups due to many hard miles. The other truck is a 1971 GMC 3/4 ton that is somewhat of a family heirloom because it was my uncles pride and joy for many years. It too is getting a slow rebuild but is being driven as work progresses. power is a 350/350 with too low rear gears. Once I get the 50 something holes my uncle drilled in the body to mount various items and camper shells welded up plans are to slick it out and have a nice, presentable daily driver. On personal info, I have been married to the same lady for 38 years and have two adult kids, no grand kids two dogs, two cats and 4 crazy roosters who think they are guard birds. |
