What's best, the old or new style POA Valve?

The AC on my 72 K10 is all original but I suspect a problem with the POA valve. Nobody seems to carry original replacements; all I find are conversion POA's that change the AC function to a cycling system.

I remember the year after I bought my truck there was the change to a cycling system that brought critcizm I remember because the new system going on and off constantly was going to wear out the compressor sooner. Is there any truth to that concern?

Also, If I want to keep my AC all original, are there any vendors that sell original replacement POA's that anyone knows about? I've checked my local parts house and as many websites as I could find, with no luck. I've included a pic of the part I need to replace.

Thanks for your help
