trailer brake control wiring

I have a 2001 silverado 1500. I was trying to wire a trailer brake control with a plug in harness I got from a trailer hitch place. I they gave me the wrong harness and the controller wouldn't work. I checked the pins where it plugs in under the dash and moved the wires in the harness plug to the correct location. I am no longer getting power from the brake light pin from the plug under the dash. It was working before I pluged in the harness now I get nothing. I checked all the fuses in both fuse panels and all are good. My brake lights still work. Everthing else still seems to work. The brake controler works when I move the lever but it gets no signal from the brake light wire. Is there some kind of relay some where for this wire that I might have burnt up when it was wired wrong? Any help would be appreciated. I have already spent hours trying to track this down.

Thanks,
Brent
