From leafs to coils and trailing arms?

Ok I have a '72 3/4 ton Dually that I want to lower. There are 2 options I am considering. One, do a spring under axle conversion which may end up lowering it to severely, or option two, remove the leaf springs completely and install trailing arms, coil springs, and all the little stuff from a 1/2 ton (I have a spare truck) plus I'll have more adjustablity with this setup. My only concern with the trailing arms is will the trailing arms be able to withstand the massive Dana 60 with dual wheels? I'm not looking for any towing capablity, it will be for looks only plus some occassional hot rodding. What do you guys think?
