67 Drag Truck & 72 Cheyenne Super
The '67 was bought by my grandfather in 1977 and used as an everyday driver until 1980 or so when my dad and him decided to go drag racing. They started with the usual stuff (more motor, gear, converter, etc). The truck was running low 12's with a mild big block and all steel body. In 1984, they did a front half on the truck, cutting the front frame off and welding up a Jegster front frame with Vega/Monza suspension. The motor was a 408 BB with a Crower fuel injection setup, TH400 with a Spragless ATI converter (4500 stall) and 12 bolt car rearend (MW axles, Spool and 5.38 gears). After the weight shaving the truck's fastest pass was 10.60 @ 130 MPH. The coolest part is the tilt front end my grandpa made using all the factory sheet metal. The fenders, cowl, and grill shell are one solid piece the tilts up 90 degrees. The truck has been setting since 1990 and we (my dad and I) pulled it out yesterday to bring it back to life. The '72 is my truck I've had since '97. It was a factory 402 (Now a 468, TH400, 2800 stall, and 3.73's) and ran 13.02 last weekend on drag radials. Enough talk, here's the pics.
Here's my youngest son getting the feel for things
